I have some hops left over from my HOP BURST wort that I have just created. The remaining hops I want to use for dry hopping. Is there any sanitising advice any one can give when it comes to adding the hops? I have about 8 different varieties that I put into a plastic seal bag. Do you starsan a hop bag then add em and dump the lot in the fermenter?
Cheers n Beers

I boil the hop bag for about 10 mins, then throw the hops in (after I've held the bag aloft with tongs for a minute or two to cool down). I sit a pair of tongs in the boil pot to sanitize them, and then spray Star San on my hands to tie off the bag. Throw bag in fermentor, job done.

Thanks Hairy. Great gouge, I'll give that a shot then. Richie, you will like this brew, I've called it the Fish Hop Burst Ale, 7 diff types of hop added at 15 mins to boil end and at flameout. Ps- Hairy, looks like this thread is the Fish and Hairy bulletin board - Hairy Fish - good name for a beer brand.

I just throw the hop pellets into the fermenter. Once they've been in there long enough I dump them out the 1 inch dump valve.

How long is long enough Glenn? So you don't use a hop bag or sterilise ?

Don’t use a hop bag or sterilise. Most seem to go for 3-7 days. I usually target about 4. I figure that hops were originally used as a preservative and there is alcohol present so no need to sterilise. If you use a bag you would need to sterilise that.
